What is a solstice? Living where I do, the onset of winter is barely marked. The most I might notice is a slight dip in temperature in the morning or late night. It was a clear blue sky throughout the day, the sun almost scorching in its heat. I had woken up earlier to see the sunrise, catching a glimpse of rose-tinted skies.
In the evening, the heat was stifling. I waited patiently for the sun to go down, for the heat to lessen so that I could go running. It didn’t seem like a short day at all to me. When I did watch the sun set from my bedroom window, I smiled to myself. What is setting here? My hopes and dreams in my myself? My confidence in myself? The light I felt I had? I didn’t have an answer.
